Romania is expected to see a decline in pig production in the coming years. By 2026, it is forecast to reach 674,000 heads, a 4.5% decrease from 2021. This is a 6.5% decrease from 1966. The country ranked 30th in 2021, with Laos coming in ahead at 882,000 heads. The United States Virgin Islands, Brazil and Spain respectively were numbers 2, 3 and 4 in this ranking. Romanian pork consumption is set to increase, albeit slowly. It is forecast to reach 745,000 metric tons by 2026, a 0.6% increase from 2021. Since 2017, demand has increased 0.8% year on year.
