Europe spearheads the harvested production of cultivated mushrooms, with Poland leading significantly (357.86 Thousand Metric Tons), followed by the Netherlands (234.0 Thousand Metric Tons), and Spain (166.79 Thousand Metric Tons). Poland exhibited a strong year-on-year growth of 12.32%, whereas the Netherlands faced a decline of 4.85%. The United Kingdom (127.2 Thousand Metric Tons) and France (101.05 Thousand Metric Tons) also demonstrated positive growth rates at 5.25% and 4.02%, respectively. Germany’s production is moderate and growing at 2.88%, while Italy, despite being a significant producer, showed a minor decline of 0.89%. Ireland and Hungary boasted slight and strong growth at 0.19% and 15.64%, respectively. Several smaller markets like Portugal and Cyprus are experiencing robust growth, with year-on-year variations of 16.05% and 15.44% respectively, representing emerging areas in this sector. Conversely, Finland and Malta saw involutions, with Malta facing a complete production halt.

Future trends to watch in European cultivated mushroom production include the potential for continued rapid expansion in high-growth countries such as Portugal, Cyprus, and Hungary. Moreover, technological advancements and increased investment in sustainable farming practices could further drive production efficiency and volume across leading and emerging markets. Countries with declining trends or halted production, like Finland and Malta, might explore strategic pivots or innovations to reinvigorate their output capabilities.
