Spain is set to become the seventh largest producer of mushrooms in the world by 2026. Last year, the country produced 174,300 metric tons of mushrooms, a small increase of 1.1% year-on-year. This is part of an overall trend since 1966 of a 3.3% year-on-year increase. India is the world's largest producer of mushrooms, with 174,300 metric tons in 2021. Japan, the United States and Poland follow in second, third and fourth place, respectively. By 2026, Spanish mushroom production is projected to reach 185,860 metric tons.
