Sugar production in Sri Lanka is on the rise. By 2026, it's expected to hit 56,090 metric tons, which is a 0.4% year-on-year growth rate. Since 1966, however, production has decreased by an average of 3.3% each year. In 2021, Sri Lanka was number 81 in terms of production, with Jamaica overtaking them with 54,900 metric tons. Brazil, Thailand and China rounded out the top four countries in terms of production.
