China's sugar production is predicted to decrease slightly in the coming years. According to figures from 2021, the country produced 10.8 million metric tons of sugar - putting it in fourth position behind Brazil, Thailand and India. However, since 1966, the country has seen year-on-year growth of 2.3%. By 2026, Chinese sugar production is projected to reach 10.5 million metric tons, a decrease of 0.6% from the 2021 figure. Thailand is expected to overtake China as the world's fourth-largest producer.
