Sugar consumption is on the rise, with an average annual growth rate of 0.3%. This is partly due to an increase in demand of 0.8% year on year. France, Italy and Poland are the top three consumers, while Brazil, Thailand and China are the top three producers. In France, sugar production is expected to reach 6.6 million metric tons by 2026, growing at a rate of 1.6% CAGR since 1966. This puts France in ninth place, with Pakistan overtaking them in 2021 with 6 million metric tons.
