Portugal's wheat consumption is set to drop slightly to 911,000 metric tons by 2026, compared to 918,000 metric tons in 2021. This is a 0.1% decrease from the 2017 level. In the 2021 ranking, Lebanon consumed slightly more wheat than Portugal at 918,000 metric tons. India, the United States and Pakistan ranked second, third and fourth respectively. Portugal's wheat production is expected to decrease significantly over the next five years, falling from 47,370 metric tons in 2021 to just 15,110 metric tons in 2026. This is a decrease of 18.6% compared to the 1966 level, which saw a 12.1% decrease year-on-year. Tanzania took first place in the 2021 ranking with 47,370 metric tons. As with the wheat consumption ranking, India, the United States and Russia took second, third and fourth place respectively.
