New Zealand's imports of sheep are set to drop by 9% year-on-year to reach $24 million by 2026, down from $40 million in 2021. Since 1994, imports have decreased by almost 5% annually. In 2021, Chile topped the ranking for imports at $40 million, with Qatar, Kuwait and Israel coming in at second, third and fourth respectively. New Zealand's exports of sheep skyrocketed by 250% year-on-year to $516 million in 2018, up from $148 million in 2017. Since 1994, exports have dropped by just under 1% each year. In 2018, Canada was the leader in exports at $516 million, with Spain, Australia and Jordan coming in second, third and fourth respectively.
