By 2026, Emirati sheep imports are expected to reach $32.5 million. This figure is only slightly higher than it was in 2021, when it stood at $32 million. In 2021, South Africa overtook the UAE to become the number 10 importer of sheep, with Qatar, Kuwait and Israel coming in at 2, 3 and 4 respectively. In 2018, Emirati sheep exports rose significantly to $972,450, up from $828,420 the year before. However, this is still a far cry from the number seen in 2012, when it stood at $1.6 million. Last year, Estonia was the biggest exporter of sheep, followed by Spain, Australia and Jordan.
