Leading the global rankings were Indonesia, India, and Bangladesh, occupying the second, third, and fourth spots respectively. On the consumption front, South Africa is expected to see a decline. Fish consumption is anticipated to drop to 146,000 metric tons by 2028 from 156,000 metric tons in 2023, averaging a 1% yearly decrease. Since 2019, the country's fish demand has fallen by an average of 1.3% per year.
