Indonesian fish production is projected to decline to approximately 12.3 million metric tons by 2028, down from nearly 13.9 million metric tons in 2023. This marks an average annual decrease of 2%. Historical data indicates that since 1965, Indonesia's fish supply has been decreasing at an average rate of 2.5% per year. In 2023, Indonesia ranked second globally in fish production, trailing China, which also produced around 13.9 million metric tons. Following Indonesia, India and Bangladesh secured the third and fourth spots, respectively, in global fish production rankings. On the consumption front, Indonesian fish consumption is expected to rise slightly to 3.2 million metric tons by 2028, up from 3.13 million metric tons in 2023. This represents a modest average annual growth rate of 0.4%. Since 2019, the country's fish demand has increased at an average rate of 0.2% per year.
