Shrimp imports to Colombia are on the rise. By 2026, it's projected to reach 8.7 million kilograms, up from 7.3 million kilograms in 2021. This is an average year-on-year growth of 2.9%. Colombian demand for shrimp has seen a steady 5% year-on-year increase since 1996. In 2021, Colombia was ranked 28th in the world, behind Peru which imported 7.3 million kilograms. China, Spain and Japan placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. On the other hand, Colombian shrimp exports are projected to drop 13.2% year-on-year to 1.4 million kilograms by 2026. Since 1996, the country's yearly supply of shrimp has increased by 0.7%. In 2021, Colombia placed 39th in the world, behind Tunisia which exported 3.2 million kilograms. Ecuador, Argentina and Indonesia ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.
