Japan's shrimp imports are forecast to drop 2.2% annually to 129 million kilograms by 2026. This marks a decrease since 1993, when imports dropped 2% year-on-year. In 2021, Japan ranked fourth, with 147.4 million kilograms, behind Spain. China, Spain, and Japan were ranked second, third, and fourth, respectively. Meanwhile, Japan's shrimp exports are expected to rise 1.9% year-on-year to 700,000 kilograms by 2026. This is an increase since 1993, when exports jumped 21.9% year-on-year. In 2021, Japan ranked 50th, with 627,240 kilograms, behind Norway. Ecuador, Argentina, and Indonesia were ranked second, third, and fourth, respectively.
