The country came in number 97 in 2018. Kazakhstan is set to see a steady growth in its shrimp imports over the next five years. In 2021, it imported 618,000 kilograms of shrimp, 63rd in the world. This is up from the previous year, when it imported 601,000 kilograms. By 2026, imports are expected to reach 701,000 kilograms. Since 2006, demand for shrimp in Kazakhstan has been growing at an average of 7.1 percent year-on-year. The Maldives overtook Kazakhstan in 2021, with 617,700 kilograms imported. China, Spain and Japan followed, ranked second, third and fourth in the world respectively. Kazakhstan's shrimp exports have also seen a dramatic increase. In 2018, they reached 4,280 kilograms, up from 2,000 in 2017, a growth of 114.2 percent. Kazakhstan ranked 97th in the world in 2018.
