Bulgaria's shrimp import is predicted to reach 6.8 million kilograms by 2026, a 3.8% increase from the 5.4 million kilograms in 2021. The demand for shrimp in the country has grown by 9.4% year on year since 2001. In 2021, Bulgaria ranked 33rd, lagging behind Poland with 5.4 million kilograms. China, Spain and Japan were the second, third and fourth highest importers of shrimp, respectively. Bulgaria's shrimp export dropped by 16.8% to 16,620 kilograms in 2018 compared to 2017, when it stood at 19,970 kilograms. Since 2001, the supply of shrimp has decreased by 18.7% year on year.
