Romanian shrimp export is set to reach almost 270,000 kilograms by 2026, according to year-on-year estimates. This marks an increase of 50.2% since 2005. Croatia moved ahead of Romania in 2021, with 200,520 kilograms of exports. Ecuador, Argentina and Indonesia ranked second, third and fourth respectively in this ranking. Meanwhile, Romanian shrimp import is estimated to reach over 2.1 million kilograms by 2026. This marks an 18.7% growth since 1997. Mauritius overtook Romania in 2021, with 1,682,100 kilograms of imports. China, Spain and Japan ranked second, third and fourth respectively.
