Sri Lankan shrimp exports are projected to drop slightly in the next five years, falling by 0.5% annually. In 2021, the country ranked 43rd, with 1.7 million kilograms supplied. Bahrain was ahead of Sri Lanka, with Ecuador, Argentina and Indonesia ranking 2nd, 3rd and 4th, respectively. Meanwhile, Sri Lankan shrimp imports are set to decline 4.7% year on year over the same period. In 2021, Sri Lanka ranked 104th, with 31,690 kilograms imported. Bolivia was ahead of the country, with China, Spain and Japan ranking 2nd, 3rd and 4th, respectively. Since 1999, Sri Lankan demand for shrimp has increased by 43.5%.
