Saudi Arabia is set to become an increasingly important player in the global shrimp market. By 2026, the country is expected to import 16 million kilograms of shrimp, a 2.5% annual growth rate since 2021. Saudi demand has grown at an average rate of 3.3% per year since 1996. In 2021, the country ranked 20th globally, with Egypt taking the lead with 13.7 million kilograms. China, Spain and Japan followed, in second, third and fourth place respectively. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is also on track to become a major exporter of shrimp. By 2026, the country is expected to export 68 million kilograms, with an average annual growth rate of 4.3% since 2021. Saudi supply has increased 23.5% year-on-year since 1996. In 2021, Saudi Arabia ranked 10th globally, with Canada taking the lead with 52.6 million kilograms. Ecuador, Argentina and Indonesia followed, in second, third and fourth place respectively.
