Dutch fish production is projected to decline to around 40,000 metric tons by 2028, down from approximately 45,000 metric tons in 2023. This marks an average annual decrease of 1.9%. Historical data shows that since 1965, Dutch fish supply has been decreasing at an average rate of 3.2% per year. In 2023, the Netherlands ranked 47th in global fish production, with Poland surpassing it at the same production level. Leading the rankings are Indonesia, India, and Bangladesh, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively. On the consumption front, Dutch fish consumption is expected to rise to nearly 146,000 metric tons by 2028, up from roughly 130,000 metric tons in 2023. This represents an annual growth rate of 1.9%, consistent with the demand increase observed since 2019.
