Cheese consumption is set to grow at a slow rate of 0.1% year on year, reaching 295 million kilograms by 2026. Demand for cheese decreased by 1.5% year on year in 2020. France, the United Kingdom and Germany were respectively the second, third and fourth largest consumers in the ranking. Austrian cheese production is expected to increase by 1.5% year on year, reaching 294,580 metric tons by 2026. Since 1966, Austrian cheese supply has grown an average of 2.2% each year. In 2021, the country was ranked 17th, with Ireland coming ahead at 269,400 metric tons. Germany, France and Italy were placed second, third and fourth respectively in the ranking.
