Chinese tobacco production is projected to decline from approximately 2.4 million metric tons in 2023 to around 2.3 million metric tons by 2028. This represents an annual decline rate of 0.9%. Despite this decrease, China's tobacco supply has seen a steady annual increase of 1.4% since 1966. In the global ranking of tobacco producers, India, Brazil, and Zimbabwe hold the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively. Meanwhile, tobacco consumption in China has also experienced a slight decline. In 2020, 25.3% of individuals aged 15 and older were daily smokers, down from 25.4% in 2019. This represents a decrease of 0.4 percentage points from the previous year. Since 2005, the rate of daily smokers in this age group has diminished by 0.4 percentage points annually.
