Tobacco production in Sierra Leone is forecast to decline to approximately 26 metric tons by 2028, down from 38 metric tons in 2023. This represents an annual decrease of around 6%, according to recent projections. Since 1980, the supply of tobacco in Sierra Leone has been on a downward trend, with an average annual reduction of 5%. The country was ranked 103rd globally in tobacco production for 2023. Burundi has now surpassed Sierra Leone, also producing 38 metric tons. In the global context, India, Brazil, and Zimbabwe hold the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively, in tobacco production rankings.
