Since 1980, the supply of tobacco in Sierra Leone has been on a downward trend, with an average annual reduction of 5%. The country was ranked 103rd globally in tobacco production for 2023. Burundi has now surpassed Sierra Leone, also producing 38 metric tons. In the global context, India, Brazil, and Zimbabwe hold the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively, in tobacco production rankings.
