Australian tobacco production is on the decline. In 2021, it is set to reach 576.42 metric tons, a drop of 15.1% from 1,450 metric tons in 2021. This marks an annual average decline of 7.9% since 1966. Australia was ranked 76th in the world, overtaken by Ukraine. India, Brazil and Zimbabwe followed as the second, third and fourth biggest producers. In 2019, Australia was ranked 29th in the world, with 11.2% of the population aged 15 and over being daily smokers. Russia, Greece and Hungary were the second, third and fourth biggest consumers.
