Key Market Indicators
Sweden is set to see a significant decline in daily tobacco consumption among its population aged 15 and older, according to recent projections. By 2028, the percentage of daily smokers in this age group is expected to drop to 7.5%, down from 8.8% in 2023. This represents an annual decrease of 2.5 percentage points. The downward trend in smoking rates is not a new phenomenon in Sweden; since 1985, the country has experienced an average annual decline of 2.7 percentage points in daily tobacco use. The sustained reduction in smoking rates reflects ongoing public health efforts and changing societal attitudes towards tobacco consumption.
