Indonesian tobacco production is projected to reach approximately 205,000 metric tons by 2028, up from roughly 199,000 metric tons in 2023. This represents a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 0.4%. Historical data reveals that since 1966, Indonesia's tobacco supply has consistently grown at the same annual rate. In 2023, Indonesia was ranked fifth globally in tobacco production. Zimbabwe surpassed Indonesia with nearly 199,000 metric tons. The top three spots were occupied by India, Brazil, and Zimbabwe, respectively. On the consumption side, the percentage of Indonesians aged 15 and older who are daily smokers stood at 32.6% in 2020, unchanged from 2019. This figure has been relatively stable since 2005, increasing by just 0.4 percentage points annually.
