Thai tobacco production is predicted to remain steady for the next five years. Production is expected to reach 66,420 metric tonnes in 2026, a 0% year-on-year average rate of increase from the 2021 figure of 66,520 metric tonnes. This figure has increased by 3% year-on-year since 1966. In 2021, North Korea overtook Thailand to become the 15th largest producer, followed by India, Brazil and Zimbabwe respectively. In 2018, Thai tobacco sales totalled $491.99 million, up from $447.56 million the year before. This placed the country 22nd in the world, behind Spain's $491.99 million. Indonesia, the Philippines and Poland came in second, third and fourth respectively.
