Palm oil production in Peru: Increase in 2017

In 2017 palm oil production grew by 21.67 percent, according to adjusted figures released by U.S. Department of Agriculture. It indicates the all-time maximum since 1979 as the indicator climbed from 60 thousand tonnes to 73 thousand tonnes, compared with the previous year when it declined by 11.76%. Peru saw a growth of 3 550% in palm oil production over the past 39 years. Moreover, it has shown an increase at a 0.05% average annual growth rate over the five years with a sharp overall rise since the start of observations. It averaged 22.23 thousand tonnes from 1979 to 2017 and it hit its minimum of 2 thousand tonnes in 1979.
