Retail sales of home lawn and garden equipment and supplies in Canada decreases in Q4 of 2017

Consumer goods sales sharply decreased by 36.22 percent compared to the prior quarter, according to figures presented by Canada National Statistical Office. The variable went down strongly by 400 017 thousand Canadian Dollars, as it follows the tendency of the previous quarter when it fell by 45.77 percent. When considering the same time an year ago, it can be noted that the indicator was decreasing by -39.78 percent and established 495 780 thousand Canadian Dollars. When taking into account the year-on-year setting, a 42.1 percent increase can be announced between Q4 2016 and the same quarter the year after. Canada saw a growth of 164.7% in consumer goods sales over the past 5 years. Besides, the consumer goods sales is now smaller than its average which equals 789 629.96 thousand Canadian Dollars with a marginal overall rise since the 2012. It attained its all-time high of 2 036 727 thousand Canadian Dollars in Q2 of 2017 and record low of 212 422 thousand Canadian Dollars in Q1 of 2013.
