Electricity Generation in other Countries

Main Electric Power Generation Indicators

  • Electricity Generation

Gross or net amount of electricity produced, usually expressed in gigawatt hours and measured as gross electricity production or net electricity production. Gross electricity generation refers to the total amount of electrical energy produced by transforming other forms of energy, for example fossil fuels, nuclear power or renewable energy sources. Net electricity generation is equal to gross electricity generation minus the amount used to operate the station. Based on: Eurostat.

  • Electricity Capacity

Maximum net or gross electric output an electricity generator can produce at continuous full-power operation, usually expressed in megawatt, gigawatt or watthours. It may also be measured in ratio of actual electricity generated to the energy that could have been generated at continuous full-power operation. Gross electricity generation refers to the total amount of electrical energy produced by transforming other forms of energy, for example fossil fuels, nuclear power or renewable energy sources. Net electricity generation is equal to gross electricity generation minus the amount used to operate the station. Based on: U.S. Energy Information Administration.
